frequently asked questions

First Time Here?

It’s my first time, what should I do? Complete your waiver, and make sure every individual in your booking signs their own, ahead of time so check-in is quick. Bring a towel to sit on, it’s required. When you arrive, your host will check you in and explain how everything works. Keep your first sauna round short, even a few minutes is plenty, and the same goes for the plunge. Go at your own pace, there’s no routine you must follow. If you feel dizzy, nauseous, or unwell at any point, just step outside and let your host know.

before You Book

What's the age policy?

This facility is for guests 19 and older, no exceptions. In BC, 19 is the age of majority, and guests under 19 can’t legally sign the waiver on their own behalf.

We highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Even the first session of the day depends on bookings, so if a time slot has no reservations, we may not open for it.

Sessions run 2 hours. Please be changed and ready to leave promptly at the end, since turnaround between bookings is short.

A Social Session means joining a small group at the sauna. A Private Session means the whole float is yours.

Social Sessions hold up to 10 guests. Private Sessions can host up to 16, though at higher numbers, guests rotate through the sauna in shifts, since not everyone fits inside at the same time.

Yes. You can book multiple spots within a Social Session for your group or reserve a Private Session for the whole float. For groups larger than 5, we recommend a Private Session.

Yes, every guest completes a waiver before their session. You’ll get a link in your booking confirmation email, and signing ahead of time means check-in goes faster. Booking for a group? Forward the waiver link and your Booking ID to everyone in your party.

Health & Safety

If you’re pregnant, have a heart condition or high blood pressure, or have a history of fainting or seizures, please consult your doctor before using the sauna or cold plunge. The same goes for any medication that affects how your body regulates temperature. Our sauna also runs hotter than what’s generally recommended for unrestricted use during pregnancy, so it’s worth a conversation with your doctor or midwife beforehand. Our staff can’t offer medical advice, but they’re always happy to help however else they can.

There’s no set time. Most guests do rounds of about 10 to 15 minutes in the sauna and a few minutes in the plunge, but it really comes down to how you feel. First time here? Even a few minutes in each is plenty. Listen to your body and take breaks in the lounge between rounds.

Step outside right away and let your host know.

The sauna floats, so there can be some movement depending on weather and water conditions. Most guests don’t notice much, but if you’re prone to motion sickness, it’s worth knowing ahead of time.

During Your Session

Yes. There’s a bucket and ladle inside filled with fresh water, use it whenever you like to add steam.

No, please use the cold plunge tub instead. Open water off the float carries real risks, currents, boat traffic, and difficulty getting back out, that the plunge tub is specifically built to avoid.

What to Bring & What to Expect

A towel to sit on (this is required), a towel to dry off with, and a swimsuit.

Yes, drinking water and tea are available throughout your session. Feel free to bring your own water bottle too.

Yes, we have change rooms on site.

Not directly on the float. The closest washroom is behind the marina office building, and it requires a key, which your host can give you. We also have robes on hand if you’d rather not walk over in just a towel.

Glass of any kind, essential oils, tobacco or cannabis products, and food or drinks, unless you’ve booked a Private Session

Not during Social Sessions. If you’ve booked a Private Session, you’re welcome to bring your own.

We have towels available if you forget yours.

Cancellations & Changes

Social Sessions: cancelling or rescheduling 5 hours or more before your session (up to 24 hours ahead) incurs a $5 fee, with the remaining amount refunded as store credit. Less than 5 hours before your session, including no-shows, full payment applies and nothing is refunded. Private Sessions: cancelling or rescheduling within 48 hours incurs a $25 fee, with the remaining amount refunded as store credit. Within 24 hours, including no-shows or rescheduling, 50% of the booking price is charged, with the remaining 50% refunded as store credit.

Text or email us with your Booking ID, full name, and the date and time of your session.

If we need to cancel due to low attendance, weather, or staffing, we’ll reach out as soon as possible and offer a transfer to another session or a full refund.

If conditions aren’t safe, we may need to cancel your session. We’ll reach out as soon as possible and offer a transfer to another session or a full refund.

Sessions run on a fixed schedule and have a short turnaround between them, so arriving late means less time in your session, not a delayed start.

Getting Here

Coast Marina, Campbell River. Full directions are on our Contact page.

There’s no dedicated parking for sauna guests, but you can park at the Coast Marina lot, Robert V. Ostler Park, or Tyee Plaza, just across the road from the marina.

The downstairs area of the float is accessible, but there’s a significant step to get into the sauna itself, and the cold plunge has no rails or aids for getting in or out. The ramp down to the marina is also steep, and the grade changes with the tide, so it may not be manageable for everyone at every time of day. If you use a wheelchair or have other mobility considerations, please contact us ahead of your visit.
